Sinead O'Connor is in a new holy hullabaloo over another Pope.
O’Connor, who famously ripped a picture of former-pontiff John Paul II
on “Saturday
Night Live” in 1992, was all set to perform two songs at the American
Music Awards show on Nov. 24.
Producers wanted Pope
Francis to introduce her — but then withdrew the invitation to
O’Connor to perform after failing to ink a deal with the holy father, O’Connor
claimed in a rambling post on her official website.
“Since naturally their idea was not only disrespectful to the Pope and
to millions of Catholics . . . they didn’t get a response (from the Pope) and
I’m not doing the show,” O’Connor wrote.
