Sinead O’Connor performance on American Music Awards canceled when talks fail with Pope Francis



Sinead O'Connor is in a new holy hullabaloo over another Pope.
O’Connor, who famously ripped a picture of former-pontiff John Paul II on “Saturday Night Live” in 1992, was all set to perform two songs at the American Music Awards show on Nov. 24.Sinead O'Connor claims she was booted from the upcoming American Music Awards show because Pope Francis did not want to introduce her.
Producers wanted Pope Francis to introduce Sinead O'Connor at the Nov. 24 show.Producers wanted Pope Francis to introduce her — but then withdrew the invitation to O’Connor to perform after failing to ink a deal with the holy father, O’Connor claimed in a rambling post on her official website.

“Since naturally their idea was not only disrespectful to the Pope and to millions of Catholics . . . they didn’t get a response (from the Pope) and I’m not doing the show,” O’Connor wrote.
