What does the future hold for our children? They tell you their dreams
and hopes; their wants and desires, but will they live them? Will the earth
sustain them and will the world be a peaceful and safe place to live because of
how we and those before us have lived in pursuit of work, ambition and desires?
The question is have we lived sustainably and are we ready to begin doing so
for the sake of the future of our children and precious loved ones or are we
going to condemn them to a future that is predictable and full of natural
disasters, violence, wars, suffering and death? Today, we can make a conscious
choice to work proactively towards balancing our ecosystem, living sustainably
and changing the destiny of our children to what it should be; positive of it
being good and full of hope and unlimited good possibilities because we
consciously changed our actions in positive ways to ensure that that happens.
We act as if we are wise, intelligent, smart, love our
children/families and are a Godly people who know God, love Him and trust Him
but our actions and the consequences tell the opposite. Our true passions and
love are revealed by what we pursue on a daily basis despite what we know about
genuine love and our knowledge of God Almighty and His love, character,
guidance and instructions. The actions we take on a daily basis reveal that we
truly do not love God enough to yield to His ways and trust His love for us. We
have continued to follow paths that God has not approved for us and paths He
has clearly instructed us not to follow yet thinking we are ok and things will
be well.
We think we are wise when we do not fear God. We think we worship God
when we have set our love for a person, work, ambition and desire greater than
our love for God and simply because we sing His praise, read His word and
attend service? Can we truly worship and love God if we do not fear Him and
keep His commandments? Can we truly be wise if we do not live sustainably and
under the counsel of God?
Fools despise wisdom and instruction! Proverbs 1:7 'The fear of
the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and
instruction.'
We can turn things around by deliberately and honestly choosing to live
sustainably. We can only do so if we embrace love in the healthy way and it is
with loving God and one another indeed and following God's direction and
character.
The truth remains and has become clear that God visits the iniquities
of a person or people on their children up to the third and forth generations.
Numbers 14:18 'The LORD is slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness,
forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He will by no means clear the guilty,
visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the
fourth generations.'
In the Ten Commandments, God says in Deuteronomy 5: 4"You shall
not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on
the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. 5"You shall not worship
them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the
iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth
generations of those who hate Me, 6but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to
those who love Me and keep My commandments.
So what do you really want and care about? What future do we want for
our children? Any loving parent, adult and child should care about the future
of the world and all life. Knowledge comes from God who reveals what is coming
our way to help us plan for the future we desire. In the time of Noah, God gave
him the knowledge of the destruction to come and what to do to live. Also, in
the time before Joseph son of Isaac reigned as second-in-command in Egypt, God
revealed to the reigning Pharaoh in two forms what He was about to do and had
firmly decided. The solution was to plan ahead of that time for a desirable
future.
Likewise, God has revealed to us through scientists and experts that we
are not living in ways that will sustain us without catastrophic natural
disasters and terrorism. We are not living sustainably and realistically
towards the good life we all desire. We are also aware of the little time frame
we still have left to turn things around not just for ourselves but also for
our children and our children's children. If we truly love our children, our
selves and God, we will passionately protect our environment, peace and begin
living truly wise and sustainably and we will succeed by God's help.
