Thisday Awards 2009 - the Nominees So Far
The THISDAY annual awards are here again. Every year since inception, THISDAY has been inviting the nation to celebrate some of its best and brightest through the awards. Like the ones before it, the 14th edition of the prestigious THISDAY Annual Awards for Excellence and Good Governance are aimed at rewarding excellence and recognising the best of the Nigerian society in the ending year, 2008.

The THISDAY awards are noted for its rigorous selection process and credibility. The process that will lead to the eventual announcement of winners had begun since early this month with extensive consultation with all stakeholders and some specialists whose contributions will help ensure a fool proof and credible selection process. And last week, the first batch of nominees in some of the categories was released by the Board of Editors after a marathon session in Lagos on the awards. The highlight of the awards will be concluded on January 14, 2009 with an impressive award presentation ceremony to be held in Abuja.

The categories for which nominees have been announced by the Board of Editors are Bank of the Year, Banker of the Year, Most Improved Bank, Best Bank Payment System, Best Nigerian Global Bank, Company of the Year, Brand of the Year, Product of the Year, Oil & Gas Company of the Year, ICT Company of the Year, CEO of the Year, Airline of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year and Hotel of the Year.
