St. Valentine is a symbol of love and Valentine’s Day is today marked all over the world as a day for celeberating love. Miss valentine Nigeria is therefore a personalization of the concept of love. The queen is an epitmome of love. In acknowledgement that love is an action word- I have chosen to express the Queen’s love by embarking on a campaign against Human trafficking and Child labour. In the fight against Aids, these two related areas have been pushed to the background, thus necessitating a fresh re-focusing. Strange as it may sound, though slave trade is seen as a thing of the past, there is a thriving business of the sale of human beings across our borders. In the same vain, the realities of the prevailing economic situation in the country have propelled the incidents of Child Labour in alarming proportions. Our intension therefore, is to draw attention to these unfortunate trends therby contributing our own little share in this fight. Like all wars, we will need to enlighten and educate the public, thereby gathering more support for war. Beyond enlightenment, we will need to offer real solutions and alternatives to those who are tempted to fall victims to these circumstances. And finally, we must offer succor and rehabilitation to those who have already fallen as victims and don’t know where to start from. Without mincing words, I am going to require all the help I can get, if we are to make any meaningful impact. The resources needed – both human and material, will be substantial. With your help and that of others, however, I know that other’s very little we cannot achieve.
