Mrs. Quincy Ayodele fetes clients and well wishers in an end-of-year jeans party in Lagos
Sunday 7 December is a day that will remain fresh in the minds of clients and well wishers of Quincy Herbal Slimmers. That day, they were feted by renowned herbal medicine practitioner and chief executive of the outfit, Mrs. Quincy Ayodele in an end-of-year jeans party she organised at Bank Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.


It was celebration galore, as guests were clad in red top and blue jeans, and a musical group, the Suga Band, thrilled everybody with its scintillating performance. Popular comedians Omobaba and Headmaster also spiced up the occasion with rib-cracking jokes.Quincy, who also sported a red top and blue jeans, used the occasion to express her appreciation for the support her clients, staff, the media and her husband, Engr. John Oladipo Ayodele had given her in the past 12 years. “I want to say a big thank you to all our teeming clients for sticking with us through the years… I also want to use this opportunity to thank our wonderful press partners for allowing God Almighty to use them to bring Quincy Herbal Slimmers to where we are at this moment.”

According to Quincy, when she started the herbal slimming business 12 years ago, the first of its kind in Nigeria, she did not know where a television station or media organisation was. But now, she has been able to build a brand because of the support the Nigerian media has given her, providing quality services to her clients via herbal slimming, skin treatment and bust enhancement along the way.Asked why she chose jeans as the dress code for the party, Quincy said: “Jeans has a way of shaping people up. I chose jeans so that those of us who are fat can be encouraged to squeeze ourselves inside jeans. Even if there is nothing you are doing, you can, on your own, make sure that you fit into jeans, at least once a year. Of course, if you are overweight you cannot be fashionable.” The herbal medicine practitioner who has been in the forefront of the campaign against obesity in Nigeria promised to make the jeans party an annual event.Quincy spoke against indulging in excessive eating and drinking during this festive period as they could lead to obesity. “Obesity is not a social disease. It is a chronic disease. In fact, it is worse than HIV because, while HIV has symptoms, obesity does not; and is the cause of many diseases. If you are overweight, you are susceptible to diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and arthritis. “So for us to continue to be healthy, we must remain slim and fit,” she said.Quincy said in order to make her services available to a large number of people, she has lined up some unique features for next year. They include, the Super Saturday Sales, which has been planned to take the services of Quincy Herbal Slimmers to the grassroots; the Quincy Jeans party which would hold in July 2009 and the Slimmer of the Year Award, which is designed to encourage clients to slim down.

Quincy also promised that the award winners will get fantastic prizes.The herbal therapist also unveiled plans to open the permanent site of the Abuja office of Quincy Herbal Slimmers next year. According to her, the office would be located in a choice area of the Federal Capital Territory.

Quincy started what is now known as the Slimming Kitchen in Nigeria. She believes the kitchen helps to check obesity by providing the appropriate food to patrons. “The Slimming Kitchen is for our slimmers who are so busy that they cannot get home in the night to prepare their meals; for that is what makes them to add weight,” she said.Asked what was the secret behind her giant leap, Quincy said: “There is something we do at Quincy Herbal Slimmers: we work. In our office there is no resting time. We rest when we see our clients happy. When they come and say ‘thank God for Quincy. If not for you, my husband would have sent me out’’’.
