Who is the Most Valuable Governors' Wife 2012?
Who is the Most Valuable Governors' Wife 2012?
The word woman connotes a lot to so many people in different
cultures and society. To a particular kind of people, a woman is too tender and
weak to venture into any area of endeavor hence she should not be seen nor
heard. To some society, she should not be seen but heard. In some other society
the woman is given the leverage to achieve whatsoever she wants to achieve, In
this case, she is seen and heard.
In Academics, we have such as Prof. Jean Herskovitts, a professor of History from United States of America, Prof. Alele Williams and Prof. Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa'l of Nigeria. The music and Arts can comfortably recognise women like Barbra Stresson, Dolly Parton, Elizabeth Taylor, Opray Winifrey and Ibidun Allison (aka Amebo), the enchanting drummer girl Aralola Olumiya, Susanne Wenger of Australia the 94 years old Australia who came to Nigeria and established the Oshogbo art School in 1962.
Politically we have the likes of Margret Thatcher, Hilary Clinton, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia. In Sports Serena Williams, Mary Onyeali Oyegbemi, Maria Sharapova and some many others have comfortable made their mark in their world. From the First Lady of USA: Michelle Obama with her global advocacy for Women education and the foundation that promotes youth leadership, to our dear Dame Patience Jonathan with her Women For Change Initiatives, the wives of political office holders in our generation distinctively contribute to the success of their husbands by getting involved in one project or the other.
What the pet projects are, the benefits to the people and how they plan to make a mark before their spouses tenure runs out is what the Most Valuable Governors Wife Award (MVGWA) is out to identify and promote.
What is common to all these women and others not mentioned is that they have at one time or the other won awards, made a difference and some still stand out in their various vocations. Welcome to the MVGWA 2012.
