Mariah Carey is marking Barack Obama’s re-election with ‘Bring It On Home,’ a new song, USA Today reports.
Carey, who campaigned for Obama, tweeted
on Tuesday, “Congratulations to our beloved President Barack Obama, our
spectacular First Lady Michelle Obama & the adorable Malia &
Sasha. We love you!”
She added she was moved by his victory
words, tweeting, “INCREDIBLE SPEECH!!!!!! Watching in a room full of
diverse people-all truly moved. Thank you America for President
Obama-4more yrs.”
Jermaine Dupri then unveiled the song on
his Global14 website and tweeted that he said Carey “wrote specifically
for Obama.” Mariah promptly retweeted the news.
The song had actually been performed by
Carey at a fundraiser for Obama’s campaign last summer but the recorded
version has just been unveiled, reports Billboard
“We just everyday people trying to make
it through the pain,” the new American Idol judge sings in the song’s
lone verse. “Yet we intentionally hurt each other playing silly games.
But when it comes down to win or lose, don’t give up the fight. Strength
is what we need, and love can save our lives.” She cautions, “So when
you’re down and frustrated let em all keep debating because we gonna
win.”
