Saint Obi’s night of double treats

Talented actor, Saint Obi, gives back to his fans and the business community at a night exuding glitz and glamour.

Seasoned actor and producer, Saint Obi, used one stone to kill two birds on Saturday when he hosted the business community and his fans in Lagos. The night of Entertainment Extravaganza, held at the MUSON Centre, was conceived to offer corporate players fun, while Obi also premiered his new film – Truecolour – at the event.

It was a night of music, comedy, culture and super luck for the winner of a car that Saint Obi also offered for a raffle draw. Star comedians such as, Elenu and Tee A joined their colleague, MC Abbey, who was the compere. Abbey set the tone for laughter especially with his old joke that exploited the names of banks in Nigeria to depict how ladies come in various sizes and attitude.
For instance, while he likened an ‘enormous’ (fat) woman to former Oceanic Bank and a tall one to Zenith, he compared the one that jumps from one place/man to the other as being erstwhile Intercontinental.

But it was Elenu that turned laughter into a contagious disease that even Obi could hardly control. As expected, the clowns directed some cracks at Nollywood, with the usual insinuations that many of its producers and directors are not professionally discerning enough.
For example, while Abbey noted that it was not a strange sight to see a ghost with a shadow in a Nigerian film, Elenu added that it was also a trend for the ghost to look right and left repeatedly whenever she wants to cross a road.
Elenu’s joke that, however, emerged the hottest for the night revolved around policemen, based on a telephone conversation between them and a man playing an unwilling host to some armed robbers.

While the detail is better saved here, Elenu proved that he is widely talented as he moved from singing to dancing and more, when he had to imitate different personalities in his jokes.

Beyond such mock performances, musicians that include Tosin Martins and Sound Sultan were on hand to entertain the guests. Predictably, Martins performed his Oloo mi just as Sultan did Jagbajantis, among other songs. Both explored the stage with inspiring theatrics.

On the essence of the event, Obi said the business community, who he sought to drive out, were usually too busy to have swell timeout. So, creating one for them, he believes, is good. But he said it was also a way of strengthening the rapport between the entertainment industry and the corporate world.

Highpoint of the evening that stretched into late night was the presentation of a brand new Kia Rio to a lucky winner, Eniola Odukale, who came to unwind at the event.
Mrs. Odukale, who works with Resourcery Nigeria Limited, was speechless when her raffle ticket was announced.

Saint Obi has featured in many films that include Last Party, Sakobi, Heart of Gold, Candle Light, Executive Crime and Goodbye Tomorrow.
