The Obafemi Awolowo Foundation (OAF), a non-governmental organisation
devoted to the propagation of the ideals and political philosophy of the
sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, will, today, unveil the recipient of the
maiden award prize for leadership instituted by it.
Tagged the Obafemi Awolowo Prize for Leadership, the award was envisioned to reward excellence in leadership and good governance.
It is based on one of the major recommendations at the 2011 edition of the Special Dialogue entitled: “Transformation Leadership and Good Governance: Lessons from the Awolowo Examples.”
The Foundation annually organises the discourse to generate ideas to propel those in leadership positions to take decisions that will positively impact on the citizenry.
A release signed by the OAF Executive Director, Dr Olatokunbo Awolowo-Dosumu, stated that the unveiling would be done at a news conference slated for the Foundation’s office at 15, Lanre Awolokun Road, Gbagada Phase 2, Lagos, at 10.00 a.m.
According to her, the event will be chaired by a former Secretary General of the Commonwealth and chairman of the Selection Committee for the Prize, Chief Emeka Anyaoku.
The release added that other members of the committee as well members of the various organs of OAF would also grace the occasion.
