A lot of Twitter fanatics are waiting in anticipation for Pope Benedict XVI to send out his first tweet later today.
The Pope who joined the infamous social network Twitter is expected
to send out his first Twitter message on the auspicious date of 12:12:12
(December 12, 2012).
Reports have recently revealed that Pope has officially joined social
network Twitter under the handle (name) @Pontifex and has already
gained 653 590 followers.
The Time said that the first tweets will be answers to questions solicited from Twitter users under the hashtag #askpontifex.
In Vatican City, a Twitter employee will be by the Pope’s side as he
taps the screen to send pre-drafted messages in eight languages from his
iPad, reported WashingtonPost.
“His first tweet will be his own words, the Vatican said, but someone
else may actually type it for him. He will take at least three
questions from his Twitter followers, but church officials from a group
called the 'Pontifical Council for Social Communications' will be
overseeing the interaction.”
The Pope is probably the least accessible person in the world and it
would be safe to say more than half of the people in the world don’t
know how to access him and this is going to change dramatically today
when the 85-year-old pontiff sends his first tweet in eight
international languages.
