Where to Unwind This Weekend

Sandra Ukele searched the city to provide the weekenders a suitable place to unwind. She writes about what Rockview Hotel provides
If you are in the Apapa axis of Lagos State this weekend and searching desperately for where to cool off, think of a possible calm place within the ever busy maritime area of Lagos, then The Rockview Hotel might just provide some answers. The Rockview hotel is a 3-star standing majestically on the Park lane Apapa. It is one architectural edifice that overlooks Apapa and its environs and cannot be missed as you drive past.

The hotel exudes hospitality at its foremost. It offers a range of services, from accommodation to catering, events management to dry-cleaning and spa treatment.
Its staffers, stewards and house-keepers all have alluring smiles and welcoming faces. There is never a short-fall of cheerful notes from their lips: “you are welcome madam,” ‘how may we be of help to you’ and the likes.

They are properly trained in the art of hotel management.
We visited the restaurant. It is a place that spirals from the ground floor to the first serving a rich blend of African cuisine and continental dishes. We were treated to a buffet.

Rockview Hotel
We waltzed to the bar, there a live band was playing to “Can’t Help Falling In Love, by UB40…” We sat down to enjoy the cool evening atmosphere. We toasted to friendship gulping down Irish Cream.
The hotel provides conference halls, a gymnasium, coffee shop, restaurant, bar and suites to its clients. The coffee shop; sells snacks, the hotel’s made bread, soft drinks and beverage to customers and guests who cannot wait in their rooms to be served tea.

The most profound of these halls, Neni Hall hosts societal functions as weddings, political gatherings, Annual General Meetings (AGM), seminars.
Smaller halls like the Umueze Room and Apapa Room would host corporate meetings for fewer persons. Most times the bar is also turned into a conference room.

The name Rockview is one that befits the hotel. Sitting squarely on Parklane, adjacent to the renowned Apapa Club and a few metres away from Shippers Council Building it gazes into Marina and is only a 15-minute drive from there.

If you are someone` who does not indulge in frivolities, the hotel operates a cyber café with fast internet service to quell your curiosity and help you keep up the pace.

Or you could try the gymnasium for rejuvenating bodily exercises or relax under the caressing hands of a masseuse in the body spa.
Our tour shows that the hotel is one that would comfortably compete with 5-star hotels in a few years given the level of competence and excellence administered.
