RIO DE JANEIRO, May 16 (Xinhua) -- More than 76% of tickets available
for next month's Confederations Cup in Brazil have been sold, world football's
governing body FIFA said on Thursday.
The South American country is on target to break the record set by Germany
in 2005 when the tournament's attendances reached 83% of capacity, according to
FIFA secretary-general Jerome Valcke.
"The response from Brazilian fans to the Confederations Cup has
been unique and already makes it one of the most successful ever," Valcke
said during a press conference.
Among matches not yet sold out is the battle for third place in
Salvador on June 30.
Three-time FIFA world player of the year and World Cup ambassador
Ronaldo said it was time to focus on football, not stadium delays.
"We are 30 days away from the Confederations Cup and I don't think
there is anybody who doesn't think we won't have the stadiums ready. It's a
certainty, however we need to completely change our focus."
Brazil will open the Confederations Cup against Japan
at Brasilia's Mane Garrincha stadium on June 15.
