Man City transfers:
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed he
is looking for one more striker in the transfer window, and it appears the
shortlist has been narrowed down to two. Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic are
the players being linked with the Eithad, but which one would be the best fit?
What's the latest?
Fiorentina's signing of Mario Gomez is a clear indicator that they will sell Stevan Jovetic this summer, so City are aware the Montenegro international will be available for the right price. Negredo, meanwhile, is just as likely to leave Sevilla, with Andalucian local papers reporting that the Premier League runners-up have long been in conversations over the striker.

How do they compare?
Jovetic is a versatile, mobile forward capable of playing as a central striker, in a wide role, or as a false number nine. His dribbling skills are particularly sharp, while he also poses a threat with his shooting from distance.

Negredo is all about pace, power and finishing. He is an
out-and-out centre-forward and is excellent in the air, difficult to muscle off
the ball, and has a stinging shot.
How would they fit in?
Jovetic would provide City with a number of options, whether centrally, as a false nine, or secondary striker. He isn't particularly prolific, however, so it's hard to see him regularly displacing either Edin Dzeko or Sergio Aguero, given that his best return in a season is 14, which he got during the 2011/12 campaign.

Negredo, meanwhile, has just finished his highest scoring
season ever, scoring 31 goals in all competitions including 25 in the league.
He would certainly be able to challenge Aguero or Dzeko for the central role,
though his lack of versatility means accommodating all three in the same
forward line-up would be difficult. The Spaniard also brings the advantage of a
ready made partnership, knowing Jesus Navas well from their four years together
at Sevilla.
They say:
“Jovetic is one step away from Manchester City, who have agreed a five-year contract with the player for €4m a season. There are still things to be signed, because his agent Fali Ramadani wants to give a fair chance to Chelsea and Manchester United, but at this point, it won't be easy to snatch him from City's grasp.”
