Manchester United did not make a deadline day bid for Portuguese winger Bruma, according to Sporting Lisbon.
The Premier League champions reportedly offered £15m to sign the 18-year-old - only for Sporting to sell the youngster to Galatasaray, with whom an £8.5m fee had already been agreed.
But Sporting have told the Portuguese press that United did not make an offer and that the bid from the Turkish giants was the only one on the table.
The news will come as light relief for United fans, though, who have already declared that the first transfer window under Moyes and new chief executive Ed Woodward was a disaster after they failed to land a number of targets.
Cesc Fabregas, Thiago Alcantara and Ander Herrera were targeted by the Old Trafford chiefs but £27.5m Marouane Fellaini was the only big-name arrival during the summer.
