What’s the latest?
Having briefly spent some time with their reserves, Sardar Azmoun broke into the Rubin Kazan first team at the start of the season, and with only a year left on his contract the vultures are beginning to circle. The youngster claims both AC Milan and Arsenal have submitted offers for his services, and that representatives of both teams will meat with Rubin Kazan officials this coming Thursday. Azmoun appears to prefer the Premier League over Serie A.

Did you know?
1) Azmoun played for several different clubs in Iran before Rubin Kazan snapped him up in December 2012. Reports in the Tehran Times claim he rejected Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan in order to go to the Russian Premier League.

2) The youngster arrived at Rubin in the middle of the Russian league’s winter break, and would only play for the club’s reserves in the remainder of the 2012/13 season. He did appear on the bench for the first team in April, but never entered the field of play.

3) The 2013/14 has been a different story for Azmoun. In his league debut for Rubin he came off the bench in the 72nd minute, scored his side’s fourth goal, then won a penalty for their fifth. In 10 league games for Rubin so far he has scored three goals and assisted two.

4) The Iranian made his debut in European competitions this season when he started for Rubin in a Europa League qualifier against FK Jagodina. He made a further appearance in the qualifying stage against Molde, scoring Rubin’s third goal in a 3-0 win.

5) The forward has chalked up plenty of experience with Iran at youth level, playing 14 games for their U19s and scoring a host of goals. He has been called up by Iran’s seniors, but has yet to make an appearance for them.

He says
“There are already offers from Arsenal and AC Milan. Representatives of the two teams will meet with Rubin Kazan management on Thursday. I’m very happy that such big clubs are interested in signing me. To play in the Premier League would be a dream for me.” Quotes attributed to Azmoun by Transfermarkt.de
