President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, has stated that his
university is not just another addition to the list of privately owned
universities in the country. But a standard for building God fearing people who
wil in turn build the nation.
Nigeria’s lady of songs, Onyeka Onwenu, held the massive audience spell bound on a wet Tuesday with two of her scintillating evergreen musical renditions during the ground breaking ceremony of Eagle Heights University, Omadino, Warri South, performed by President Goodluck Jonathan.
It seemed like a musical carnival as “Sisan Odokun” of Omadino
community, the Obodo neighbouring community , Ijaw, Urhobo and Itsekiri
cultural singers/dancers drawn from the Word of Life Bible Church, took turn to
entertain the distinguished crowd which included Olu of Warri, HRM Ogiame
Atuwatse II, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, Ovie of Uvwhie, Orodje
of Okpe represented, other traditional rulers and chiefs.
Shofrtly after President Goodluck Jonathan and his entourage brought in
by convoy of NAF helicopters walked into the venue, passing through a red
carpet already laid down in the water logged environment as overnight rain
fell.
Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, Chancellor of the university described the
ceremony as a milestone in the annals of Word of Life Bible Church, an academic
transformation, reflecting on the motto of the institution which is “Building
and Equipping the People who Build the Nation. He appreciated President
Jonathan, Governor Uduaghan, the Olu of Warri, Atuwatse II, spiritual leaders,
captains of industry, the academia and Omadino community.
He said that the university was not established to join the rest of
private universities in the country, but to produce graduates that are
productive, God fearing who should be ready to serve the nation.
As to the vision of EHU, it is in threshold of a revolution, to do the
impossible. This university of our dream to become the engine room of academic
excellence, overhaul the education system, and engage in productive reforms.
