Chris Brown is close to taking a no-jail plea deal in his Washington
assault case, a source told the Daily News Tuesday.
The Grammy-winning singer is expected to appear in court in the
nation’s capital Wednesday and enter a type of no-contest plea called an Alford
plea, the source said.
The plea would allow Brown, 25, to maintain his innocence while
admitting prosecutors have sufficient evidence to convict him for the alleged
sidewalk smackdown last October.
Washington prosecutors charged the “Run It” singer with misdemeanor
assault after a 20-year-old man claimed Brown and his bodyguard Christopher
Hollosy punched him in the face when he tried to crash a fan photo outside the
W Hotel near the White House.
The alleged victim, Parker Adams, said the melee landed him in the
hospital with a fractured nasal bone.
A photo of his alleged injuries used at Hollosy’s trial showed blood
trickling out of his nostril and on his chin.
Brown was hauled off to jail but pleaded not guilty, saying he never
touched Adams.
Hollosy, 35, stood trial first and was convicted. He’s now appealing.
Adams, meanwhile, sued both men for $1.5 million each.
"I ain’t down with that gay s---,” Brown allegedly snapped, according to Adams.
“His nose was broken,” Adams’ lawyer John C. Hayes Jr. previously told The News. “He’s certainly been traumatized.”
Brown recently spent more than two months in Los Angeles County jail for violating probation in his 2009 Rihanna-related felony assault case.
He was arrested March 14 and tossed behind bars for getting kicked out of court-ordered anger management rehab.
The rehab said Brown resisted a drug test and boasted he was good at using guns and knives.
Brown, recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder, was released from jail June 2.
