The 'Shield' actor didn’t object when a judge forbid any contact with the two young sons who were in the family’s house when he allegedly shot their mom.
Actor Michael Jace sat slumped over and silent in a yellow jail uniform
Wednesday after pleading not guilty to murdering his wife April Jace last
month.
He hung his head and didn’t object when a judge forbid any contact with
the two young sons who were in the family’s house when he allegedly shot their
mom.
The judge’s protective order prohibits Jace from calling or writing to
his minor sons Caleb, 5, and Nehemiah, 8, while he’s in custody.
If Jace eventually makes bail, he must stay at least 100 yards away
from the boys.
“Mr. Jace is constantly thinking about the well-being of his children.
He’s praying for them. Everything is about his concern for his children,”
Jace’s lead lawyer Jason O. Sias told the Daily News after the arraignment.
Best known for playing a cop on the FX drama “The Shield,”
Jace was given an August 1 date for his preliminary hearing. His lawyers were
ordered to return without him on July 15 for a status hearing.
Jace was arrested May 19 and formally charged with murder
three days later.
His wife April, 40, was found dead with multiple gunshot
wounds in a hallway at their Los Angeles house after the veteran actor
reportedly called 911 and admitted he was the culprit.
Police said the motive appeared to be domestic violence.

Los Angeles on May 19.
A harrowing 911 call released by first responders claimed
the actor called his father-in-law to say he shot April and needed family members
to pick up their kids.
“My son-in-law called me and texted me and said come get the kids
because he shot April, our daughter,” the male voice on the recording released
by the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
“We’re on the 405 (freeway) headed there now from Long Beach,” the
voice told the dispatcher, imploring first responders to act quickly.
“We’re a ways out yet,” he said. “Godspeed, please.”
