The three-day warning strike by Association of Resident Doctors has entered its second day on Tuesday.
A visit to the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital confirmed that
while other medical workers were busy carrying out their normal duties,
no resident doctor was on duty.
The chairman, Association of Resident Doctors in Akwa Ibom State, Dr.
Dolapo Shittu, listed his association’s demands to include adequate
training of its members, review of their allowances by government,
relativity specialisation and the need to redress the victimisation of
its members at Federal Medical Centre, Owerri.
According to Shittu, a total and indefinite strike is scheduled to
commence on July 1 if the issues were not resolved before then.
