Giroud Injury Latest
The Arsenal boss told the media on Tuesday morning the
Gunners would have to wait until Wednesday before discovering the full extent
of the Frenchman’s injury, but privately he believes he has lost the
striker for around four months.
Giroud suffered a foot injury in the closing moments of
Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Everton, and has been ruled
out of Wednesday’s Champions League
qualifying second leg against Besiktas.
But talkSPORT understands there are genuine concerns at the
club the forward is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
That might explain why Lukas Podolski, who had been tipped to leave the Emirates
this week, is now staying in north London, as Wenger confirmed on Tuesday.
But if Giroud’s injury is as bad as is feared, it could yet
force the Arsenal boss into the transfer market for a new
striker ahead of the close of the transfer window on Monday.
