The National Youth Service Corps in Nasarawa State said it had
relocated no fewer than 258 corps members posted to crisis areas in the state
back to Lafia, the state capital.
The state NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Agatha Olabanji, made this known in an
interview with News Agency of Nigeria on Monday.
Olabanji, who said the corps members were in a safe location in Lafia,
stressed that the security situation in some parts of the state was precarious.
“They are no longer there. We have moved them out of crisis areas.
“They are about 258 corps members that have been moved back to Lafia,”
she said.
NAN reports that the corps members were evacuated from Agyaragu-Tofa
and Assakio communities in the Lafia East Development Area and Daddere and
Tudun-Adabu in Obi Local Government Area.
The communities had recently been recording frequent clashes between
herdsmen and farmers.
Olabamiji said the relocated corps members had been instructed to report
regularly to the NYSC secretariat in Lafia, adding that the measure was for the
secretariat to be abreast with their welfare and safety.
