She's so, she's so, Kerry from the block.
"You wouldn't know it from my build, but Jennifer taught me how to
dance," Kerry Washington told Yahoo Beauty Editor in Chief Bobbi
Brown about the "Booty" singer.
The "Scandal" star and Jennifer
Lopez grew up together in the Bronx and, well, Washington took away
some key moves from that friendship.
"I remember when she left the Boys Club because she was leaving
New York to go to L.A.
to try and make it big, and we were all like, 'Oh my gosh,'" the
37-year-old actress recalled.
At that time, Washington probably didn't imagine she'd one day become a
star, too.
Now, she's on a hit ABC series that's currently in its fourth season.
While Washington may appear to be a gladiator in real life like her character Olivia
Pope, she is not at all the same person.
"I don't (drink red wine in real life)!" she said about
Pope's frequent wine sipping shown in every episode.
"On the show it's just grape juice, because I would never be able
to memorize all my lines," she added.
Washington has also taken on new life roles recently, like marrying NFL
Oakland Raiders star Nnamdi
Asomugha in June 2013 and giving birth to their first child, daughter
Isabelle, in April. The super-private actress was able to pull off both
life-altering events secretly.
"It is really interesting for me being an actress," she told
Yahoo. "Because I feel like I have a responsibility to myself and to my
family to have gone through this miraculous journey of pregnancy and birth and
all of that and be healthy and sane and present and loving to myself and to my
family.
While she feels a deep devotion and dedication to her family,
Washington is also aware of the huge undertaking she's got in living up to
Olivia Pope fans' expectations, even while pregnant.
"And then at the same time I have this responsibility to Olivia
Pope, to be that character and maintain the essence of that character even if
my belly is ever expanding," she added.
