They made it easy.
A gang of bungling London drug dealers has been collectively sentenced
to 4 1/2 years behind bars after being busted with an incriminating collection
of photos showing them waving cash and a massive bag of marijuana.
The five clowns were rounded up in May after a police raid in north
Kensington revealed their astonishingly dimwitted trophy shots on their
cellphones, according to local reports.
In one picture, a smiling Sophian Chhayra, 24, is seen posing for the
camera while clutching a clear, chest-sized bag of cannabis.
In another, Zakaria Chentouf, 24, who prosecutors branded as "head
of the conspiracy," smugly displays a neat stack of £50 notes in his hands
as he glowers at the camera.
The group, which also includes Ahmed Mohamud, 20, his brother Yousif
Mohamud, 19, and Fouad Soussi, 20, were sentenced Wednesday to the delight of
local authorities.
"(These) individuals used their mobile phone cameras to gloat
about their success in illegal trade — this pride helped secure their undoing,
and these photos provided compelling evidence at court," said Detective
Constable Helen Lomas, according to the Mirror.
Soussi was sentenced to 15 months and Chentouf was given 16 months.
Ahmed Mahomud and Chhayra were each sentenced to 10 months while Yousif
Mohamud was sentenced to 12 weeks.
Both Mahomud brothers and Chhayra were released from court after having
already served nearly six months on remand, London24 reported.
