resigns from SAG National Board after child molestation confession in audio recording
Stephen Collins is already experiencing the fallout from his
shocking admission to child molestation.
The "7th Heaven" actor has been dropped from Seth
MacFarlane’s “Ted 2" after news broke that he admitted to
molesting a young girl and exposing himself to two other children in an audio
recording, according to Entertainment Weekly. The NYPD is currently investigating
the allegations.
The site reports that the film’s representatives had confirmed he had
been fired. (A rep for Collins has yet to respond to the Daily News’ request
for comment.)
While it’s not known what role the 67-year-old had been cast to play,
or whether he had already filmed his scenes, the film’s reps said that the part
was “small enough to remove without any major disruption or rewrites of the
project.”
Even though Collins had never been officially announced as part of the
film's cast, there had been rumors he had scored a role in the comedy. The
actor himself implied he was involved with the project Saturday, when he
responded to a fan's question about his role in "Ted 2" by tweeting, “I’d tell you but @SethMacFarlane would have to
kill me.”
"Ted 2" is currently filming and is set to be released June
26, 2015.
Audiences won't be able to catch Collins on the small screen either,
with a rep for the TV
Guide Network telling TMZ on Tuesday that it will stop airing reruns of
"7th Heaven" due to the abuse allegations.
The news comes after TMZ reported that Collins resigned from his high-profile
position on the National Board of the Screen Actors Guild, and that he is no
longer listed as a co-director for the Committee for Stress-Free Schools, which
was established in partnership with the David
Lynch Foundation.
