The pediatric hospital has created a photo series entitled "From NICU to the Moon" that imagines its littlest residents in grown-up careers as doctors, astronauts, chefs and more.
It's meant to evoke what babies dream about when they are sound asleep, and also promote safe sleeping practices among infants.
The hospital's nurses and communications staff imagined one little girl, Madilyn, as a physician, with a Band-Aid, stethoscope and checklist included in the picture.
"I think she's strong and she's definitely got the will to see whatever it is through to the end, so, if that happens to be med school in a few years, I would not be surprised," nurse Adrianna Zimmerman told Today.com. "It's funny how much personality these babies have."
Her mom, Michele Forth, agrees, and loves the photo's message.
"Even though Miss Madilyn does have a whole bunch of obstacles ahead of her right now, she can do amazing things and she can aspire to be anything that she wants to be," she said.
Baby Arianna was shown as a chef, with telltale accessories like a cook's hat and fork. Another baby, Carolina, was drawn as an Olympian because she is always moving around.
Sofia, a baby depicted as a ballerina, is always wiggling as well, and comes from a family of dancers. She recently got to leave the NICU and go home with her parents.
Sofia required an oxygen tank and a feeding tube, but left them offstage for the photo shoot.
"It
made her seem normal. The way the pictures kind of erased all of the cords. All
of the tubes," her mom, Dawny Hill, told Today.com. "I saw the innocence of Sofia as
opposed to my child in the NICU."
