Angels strut their stuff at London lingerie
Kim Kardashian may have broken the Internet, but Taylor Swift in
lingerie might break Instagram. The “Shake It Off” singer performed at the
Victoria’s Secret show in London on Tuesday night, and inspired many a hashtag
by wearing two lacy ensembles on the runway.
Kroes gave birth to daughter Myllena on Oct. 29. Yet there she was,
baring her impossibly toned abs.
She also set the Internet ablaze when she strolled hand in hand with
BFF and Victoria’s Secret Angel Karlie Kloss during the finale — a repeat of
last year’s showstopper.
Fans on Twitter immediately dubbed Kloss and Swift, by that time in a
tiny black lace teddy, “Kaylor.”
This year’s VS show featured a perfect mix of new touches, like Ariana
Grande and the inclusion of two multimillion-dollar Fantasy Bras, and the old,
like Candice Swanepoel’s flawless abs and a cute boy singing onstage. This
year, the lucky lad was Ed Sheeran.
The show is mostly a pixie-wing-adorned spectacle fueled by hours in
the gym, but there’s an actual fashion element as well, including an array of
themed segments.
With a moody masquerade theme, the Angel Ball segment featured
Constance Jablonski and Martha Hunt in looks that went far beyond lingerie, including
a sheer shirt and fringed black dress.
The Gilded Angels segment included gold wings that looked like they
were on fire, worn by Lily Donaldson, Swanepoel and Doutzen Kroes. Kloss’ wings
were made of 18-carat gold — the ultimate stocking stuffer (albeit not for
sale).
The Fairy Tale segment took inspiration from Disney, with Jourdan Dunn
wearing sparkly pink wings and Izabel Goulart in enormous crystal-covered
butterfly wings. Behati Prinsloo shut it down with a voluminous feather train
and thigh-high snakeskin sandals.
For the obligatory jolt of fun, this year’s theme was “University of
Pink.” Elsa Hosk walked the runway wearing a sports bra with the word “Pink,”
and fur-trimmed cotton wings. The look was like fantasy anime. Bregje Heinen
wore a jacket with sherbet-colored cotton balls attached.
Two of the most famous Angels, Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima,
debuted the two Fantasy Bras this year during an Exotic Traveler segment.
Draped in diamonds and with blue and red superhero capes flowing behind them,
they walked the runway in bras each worth $2 million. Lima’s contains more than
6,000 carats of gems (including 943 diamonds) and took 1,300 hours to create.
Ambrosio’s red version is hand-set in 18-carat gold.
Of course, no Victoria’s Secret show would be complete without a model
who just had a baby a minute ago.
