Gas Company to end commissioning process -Ghana

The Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Gas Company, Dr. George Sipa Yankey, says commissioning activities of the gas processing plant is progressing satisfactorily and would be completed by the end of this month.

Dr. Yankey said this when the Minister of Petroleum, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, paid a working visit to the Ghana Gas Processing Plant and Quantum Terminals Limited both at Atuabo in the Western Region.

He explained that Ghana Gas Plant delivers 60million standard cubic feet of lean gas per day to the Volta River Authority at Aboadze, with the expectation that it would increase to about 120 million feet in the coming days.

This he said, should be able to provide about five thousand megawatts of power.

At Quantum Terminals Limited, the General Manager Alex Amoaku, noted that, the terminal is currently receiving 750 metric tonnes of gas per day and also evacuates it to the market, stressing that the facility is ready to handle the LPG that would be produced by the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant.

Mr. Buah commended the management and staff of Ghana Gas Processing Plant and Quantum Terminals Limited for the great job done so far.

He re-emphasised the Ministry’s readiness to ensure that Ghana benefits from its hydrocarbon find.

He said the Ministry would work closely with stakeholders to ensure that all outstanding issues are properly handled.
