A former Wall Street intern is giving a new twist to asset management.
Paige Jennings, 23, announced on Twitter that she quit her internship
at a global asset management firm to pursue a career in the adult film
industry.
“I just left a job on Wall Street for a porn career because I can’t
stop masturbating at work ...,” tweeted Jennings, who goes by the Twitter
handle Veronica Vain.
A recent graduate of the University of Florida, Jennings’ internship
was at Lazard Asset Management and lasted from June 2 to Jan. 9, Business Insider reported and sources told the Daily News.
“I have a finance degree and knew I wanted to
apply it in business. I couldn't find my sweet spot and I did think about how
I'm sexual and how much I enjoy anything related to that,” Jennings told the
Daily News Wednesday night. “And I knew that’s never going to fly in a very
conservative environment.”
She said her research led her to the online
reality porn talent show “The Sex Factor,” where she hopes to make her adult
film industry debut.
Buddy Ruben, a executive producer for the show, confirmed that Jennings
has been invited to Las Vegas next week to audition during the Adult Video News
Awards.
“She speaks really well. She’s intelligent. She’s beautiful and she’s
down for whatever,” said Ruben, who contacted Jennings within three hours of
getting her applications.
Jennings said she’s banking on making the cut for the show.
“I thought, if I was ever going to do porn, I was never going to come
in (through) the bottom, where girls can get messed up, and beaten, and things
like that,” Jennings said. “I was like, if I'm going to do it, I'm going to do
it smart, I'm going to have control, I'm going to make a business out of it.
“I saw this as an opportunity to get out there in a positive way and
reach out to the top parts of the industry,” she said.
Jennings said she is legally bound not to reveal what Wall Street firm
she interned for.
Lazard officials did not return calls or emails from The News
requesting comment, but a source at the company confirmed that Jennings had a
part-time internship from June until earlier this month.
Jennings did confirm media reports that she took nude bathroom selfies
at work and posted them on her Twitter account.
“I thought, I’ll just take selfies in the bathroom, that'll play up,”
she said.
She said she gave her two-week notice before leaving the firm.
“My (finance) group wanted me to continue. It was me (who didn't want
to). I said it's not my industry,” she said, noting that there was an
opportunity to continue.
She said finance “seems like a world that can really suck the life out
of women, and you have to sacrifice so much, so much to have even a shot at
that game.”
Jennings said she has no regrets about her decision.
“No, I think I could tear this industry up ... when it comes to scenes,
it's definitely going to be something to watch,” she said. “I'm confident in
those abilities.”
