An emotional Bobby Brown spent his 46th birthday agonizing over the
fate of his daughter, while family members gathered in Atlanta on Thursday and
braced for the worst.
Bobbi Kristina Brown, 21, has been in a medically induced coma since
she was found facedown in a bathtub in her home Saturday — and doctors told the
family there’s nothing more they can do, People.com reported.
“Everyone is coming to the hospital to say goodbye,” a family member
told the magazine.
Radar Online reported the young woman’s maternal grandmother, Cissy
Houston, flew to Atlanta — just three years after losing her daughter Whitney
under similar circumstances — to be with Bobbi Kristina.
It now falls to surviving parent Bobby Brown to decide whether or
when to take his daughter off life support.
“Bobby has been crying nonstop since yesterday,” the family member told
People. “We are grieving.”
Other family sources said Brown couldn’t handle making such a tragic
decision on his birthday.
Instead, he’ll take on the unbearable task over the weekend, TMZ.com said.
Brown was also struggling to share some news with his family that was
joyous — but couldn’t have come at a more awkward time, TMZ said.
The R&B singer’s wife, Alicia Etheridge, is four months pregnant
with the couple’s second child, sources told the online gossip site.
Son Cassius was born in 2009, three years before they wed.
The former “New Edition” front man also has three children with a
former girlfriend.
His oldest child, Landon, was born in 1986, daughter LaPrincia in 1990
and a second son, Robert, in 1992. Bobbi Kristina was the only child from his
troubled marriage to Whitney Houston, which ended in divorce in 2007.
Brown and his current wife tried to keep their baby news quiet over the
past week as they’ve kept vigil with the family at Bobbi Kristina’s bedside.
Not everybody in the Houston clan is ready to let go of the vibrant
young woman who was just showing glimpses of coming into her own, however.
“We’re all still praying that God will intervene and heal her body,” a
family member told People. But “it’s sinking in that this is it.”
Bobbi Kristina — Whitney Houston’s only child — was moved to Emory
University Hospital earlier this week.
She’s been nonresponsive since she was found slumped in her bathtub on
Saturday — a discovery that was eerily reminiscent of her celebrated
mother’s death.
Singer Houston, 48, was found unconscious in the bathtub of her luxury
Beverly Hills suite on Feb. 11, 2012.
The coroner’s report listed heart disease and cocaine use as major
factors in Houston’s death.
Bobbi Kristina was discovered by a friend of her boyfriend, Nick
Gordon, 25.
Although she and Gordon said they got married last year — even tweeting
a picture of their rings — a Brown family lawyer said this week they’d never
been legally hitched.
