Toronto man makes fake Tinder profile for 89-year-old grandfather

Ethan Cole, left, often uses his 89-year-old grandfather Joe to act as his wingman for his web series.

For an 89-year-old he makes a pretty good wingman.
A pair of Toronto filmmakers are using grandpa Joe to describe the modern world of dating through a hilarious Web series.

The Slow Clap, which was created by Josh Shultz and Ethan Cole, released the newest episode of their Web series as Cole's grandfather acts as his wingman to try to get his grandson dates.

None of the women ended up with Ethan despite his grandfather’s best efforts.Or as Joe refers to it: "laid."
Shultz told the Daily News the project, which now has eight episodes, began as the 31-year-old Ethan was trying to explain to his elder what dating is like for him. That's led to a bunch of unique situations where Joe, who is happily married and has five other grandchildren, works to help his grandson.
For the latest video the duo creates a fake profile on Tinder claiming Joe is only 21. Once the grandfather is informed Tinder is not firewood, he happily plays along, and they scheme over how Ethan will eventually wind up with his dates.
Shultz said Ethan's grandparents are very supportive and the experiments don't even get Joe in trouble with his wife Lil.

Some of the women got the joke right away and settled in for a fun meeting.
"She knows he's a loyal man and it's all for fun," Shultz said. "They are older people but they are totally with it. They have fun like we are having fun. They're really just as cool as most millennials we have ever met."
Of the 37 girls he matched on the dating website, five agreed to meet Joe and be filmed as part of a "documentary."

The suitor was definitely not who they were expecting, but they eventually realized they could have done much worse. Though some started laughing right away as Joe walked slowly to their table at the restaurant a few had to overcome their shock.
"Do …. you have grandchildren?" one decides would be an appropriate icebreaker.
"I normally like younger guys so this is a bit of a change for me," admits another with a bemused smirk on her face.
But Joe proves to be quite the charmer and the women all seem to start having a good time with him.

"They really had a great time," Shultz said. "Everyone was so cool and supportive. They had no bad feelings at all."
Eventually, Ethan appears. After pretending his grandfather is senile he then tries to hone in on the date without much success.
Shultz said none of the girls agreed to go out with Ethan — though the happily married father said his partner does do pretty well in the dating world.
"I live vicariously through him," he joked.
