Conjoined baby boys separated during successful nine-hour operation in Saudi Arabia

A pair of conjoined baby boys has a shot at living normal lives after their successful separation during a nine-hour operation in Saudi Arabia.
These two Yemeni twins, Abdullah (left) and Abdulrahman are expected to make a full recovery after a nine-hour operation to separate them in Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

A dedicated team of at least 25 doctors and nurses at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh pulled off the modern-day miracle Saturday while not only separating the infants but reconstructing their once-shared anatomical parts.

That included their large and small intestines, anal area, genitals, and an overlapped urinary system and pubic bone that little Abdullah and Abdulrahman had shared, according to the hospital.
It took a team of extremely dedicated and highly skilled doctors and nurses to pull off the operation that was estimated as having a 60-70% survival rate. The two Yemeni boys were estimated as having a 60-70% rate of survival, due to congenital defects they both suffer from. One boy was found having life-threatening brain and heart defects, the other from minor brain defects.

The medical center credited its team of anesthesiology, pediatric, orthopedic, plastic surgery, and pediatrics urinary tract surgery as well as nursing and technical staff for pulling off the marvel.

The boys were found sharing their large and small intestines, anal area, genitals, and an overlapped urinary system and pubic bone.
After nine stages, the twins were successfully transferred to the hospital's pediatric intensive care unit to recover.

The surgery was the 35th like operation of conjoined twins in the Arabian Kingdom, from more than 18 countries, since 1990, the hospital boasted
Abdullah is seen being transferred to his bed after the nine-stage surgery.

On Monday the heroic medical staff again went to work by separating a parasitic twin, showing no signs of life, from an Egyptian baby boy.

In February a pair of conjoined twins were similarly separated at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston.
