So help me god, Kanye West has set the Internet ablaze again.
The rapper immediately became a trending topic on the social media site Sunday after revealing the name of his upcoming seventh album, “So Help Me God,” and sharing what many believe to be the project’s cover art.
Yeezus made the major announcement to his 11.5 million followers after previously indicating that the album, which is “80% done,” will be released as a surprise without any promotions.
“My last album was a protest in music,” West said on Feb. 20 during a radio interview with New York City’s Power 105.1 FM Breakfast Club.
“I was like, ‘I’m gonna take my ball and go home. If ya’ll aint going (to) let me play where I wanna play and do clothes and do this … the album (‘Yeezus’) don’t really got no music I just let ya’ll have a little music on it … ‘Bound,’ but that was it.”
For the new album, Kim Kardashian’s husband took a different approach by filling it with “bars, songs,” and “cookout music that feels good.”
“This album is about embracing the music and embracing joy and being of joy and being of service to the people,” he said on the morning radio show. “I just hope people like it and enjoy it.”
Thus far, West has released three songs from the upcoming project — “Only One,” “FourFiveSeconds,” and “All Day” — by either performing it live as he did with the Rihanna and Paul McCartney collaboration, or in the form of an official release.
The 37-year-old rapper appears to already be living the positive, feel good way he describes his next album by tweeting apologies to artists he’s recently offended like Beck and Bruno Mars.
“I also want to publicly apologize to Bruno Mars,” he tweeted Thursday after apologizing to Beck. “I used to hate on him but I really respect what he does as an artist.
“I also would love for Bruno to sing this hook on this song 88 keys / Puff and I produced,” West continued. “I even asked Tyler to shoot the vid.”
He continued spreading the love by tweeting congratulations to Big Sean on his recent album success.
“Yo so proud of my family Big Sean for his first number 1 album!!! #Goodmusic!!!” West tweeted Saturday.
