The big-hitting batsman, among the top Twenty20 players in
the world, has yet to be given a chance at Test level having failed to set the
long-form of the game alight.
But the 26-year-old believes he can transform his game from
limited-overs specalist to Test opener, just like Australia sensation Warner
has, and is hoping to force his way into Ashes contention by starting the
County Championship season with a bang for Nottinghamshire.
Speaking on the Hawksbee and Jacobs show, he said: “David Warner
is the perfect example that there is room for attacking players in Test cricket
at the top of the order.
“The way he has transformed his T20 game into Test cricket
has been is great to see. He is someone I definitely look up to and I would
love to emulate what he has done.
“I had a really good year last year after a poor year in
2013, and I'm confident heading into this year.
"The selectors just look at weight of runs and if I can
get off to a good start with a couple of hundreds, then who knows what the
summer has got in for me.”
