The Arsenal forward made it six
goals in five games for his country when he scored during the 4-0 win over Lithuania at Wembley, but was
then forced to leave the field later in the game.
Welbeck missed the 1-1 draw with Italy in Turin on Tuesday
night and has been receiving treatment at the club's training
ground.
Wenger says they will give the talented forward every chance
to prove his fitness ahead of the big game at Emirates Stadium and hopes he
will be available for selection.
Wenger said: "Danny Welbeck came back with a slight
knee injury. It looks like he has a little chance to be available for Saturday.
"He is a player who contributes a lot. He scores goals
and contributes a lot to the team-work.
"He is a team player and technically he has improved a
lot. He is much more mature and composed in front of goal. The qualities of his
runs is getting better and he has huge attributes."
