Sunderland midfielder Jack Rodwell believes the extended break his side
is about to enjoy will help new boss Dick Advocaat settle in.
The north-west side enjoyed a 1-0 derby win over Newcastle, shortly after the Dutchman's appointment, but were then humiliated in a 4-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at the weekend.
But Rodwell, who joined the Black Cats from Manchester City last summer,
believes the new head coach will benefit from the weekend off before they visit
Stoke on April 25.
"The head coach is also still new to the club and the
extended break will give us more time to work with him before the next
game", Rodwell said after the Palace rout.
"On a personal note is was nice to get 90 minutes under
my belt but it is hard to be happy after that result, so we need to stay
focussed and be ready to make amends against Stoke."
