Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho
says he is not surprised that Esteban Cambiasso joined Leicester City last summer.
The former Real Madrid man shocked many when he moved to the
King Power Stadium on a free transfer after his contract with Inter Milan expired.
But Mourinho, who worked with the midfielder at the San
Siro, has revealed he always expected the 34-year-old to one day play in the Premier League.
"I spoke to him a few times before he came over to
England. I wasn't giving him advice, as he knows what he wants and he is a
bright lad," said Mourinho.
"I was not surprised he joined the Premier League,
though I know he is clearly an Inter man forever, like [Javier] Zanetti and
[Marco] Materazzi.
"Despite him not being Italian, I know he is one of the
guys who loves Inter. He was there for around a decade where he made his career
but I always felt he was an open guy with the desire to try other experiences.
"Speaking English so well and being such a bright guy,
I always thought that if he was not going to stay at Inter, he would come over
to England."
