Manchester City are
keeping a close eye on Barcelona defender Jordi Alba.
The Spaniard's contract with the Catalan giants expires in
the summer of 2017 and talks are set to extend his stay.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Manchester City are
ready to pounce if negotiations between the two parties stall.
The Premier League
champions are reportedly on the hunt for a left back this summer, with doubts
raised over the futures of Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov.
Director of football Txiki Begiristain, who formerly held the same
position at Barcelona, is said to be a huge fan of Alba and is eager to push
through a deal.
The 26-year-old has been ever-present in the Barcelona team
since joining the club for £11.2 from Valencia in 2012.
But despite arriving for that amount, reports claim it would
take more than £50m for Manchester City to snatch the Spain international away
from Barcelona.
