AC Milan edge ahead of Chelsea in race for Serie A star -Report

Mauri, just 19, is rated one of the best young talents in Italy and has been linked with a number of top clubs throughout Europe.
AC Milan appear to be in pole position to clinch the signing of Chelsea target Jose Mauri, according to reports in Italy
Jose Mourinho is believed to be among his admirers and reports suggested that the Premier League champions could be preparing a move to sign him at the end of the season.

But the Chelsea boss will have to move quickly as Mauri's agent Dino Zampacorta claims AC Milan are making advanced moves to sign the Parma midfielder.
Zampacorta, speaking to MilanNews, said: "Milan are strongly interested in the lad. Not just now, but for months.

"Do they have an advantage? Definitely, it's a matter of respect for the Rossoneri.
"Jose believes in his qualities and will back himself, he's ambitious and he wants to make a career for himself, so he'll look at who gives technical guarantees.

"We've rejected higher salaries, because the lad wants to play. Milan need several midfielders and he could be one of them, he could play with those who have more experience.

"However, it's not just Milan who have offered these assurances, there are at least four clubs, so it depends."
