Muktari Mapia, an All Progressives
Congress (PAC) chieftain in Sokoto State, on Thursday advised the
incoming federal administration to strengthen the capacity of mechanised
farming in Nigeria.
He said this would effectively boost the all-year farming method for the production of assorted crops in the country.
Mapia said in Sokoto that mechanised
farming, during the rainy season, would ensure massive production of
various crops for local consumption and exports.
He said the system would enhance jobs creation for the teaming unemployed Nigerians and enhance food security.
He advised the administration to map out strategies for diversification of the economy to the agriculture sector.
“We are blessed with vast land needed to produce various crops to develop our economy, ” he said.
He observed that Nigeria, as a nation,
had remained in the state of underdevelopment ”because of lack of
effective and efficient leadership”.
Mapia expressed confidence that the
incoming administration of retired Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari would meet
the expectations of Nigerians through good democratic governance.
He urged Nigerians to expose corrupt leaders for peace, progress and political growth of the country .
