Liverpool’s third-choice striker Rickie Lambert has sensationally
been linked with Chelsea, as a replacement
for out-of-contract Didier Drogba.
The newly-crowned Premier League
champions are considering replacing 37-year-old Drogba, and according to the
Mirror a candidate to succeed the Ivorian is a player who struggles to
make Liverpool’s starting 11.
With two goals in 16 league games (six starts) for the
Reds so far this season, it's understandable that a few eyebrows have been
raised about Lambert stepping in to the boots of four-time title winner and Champions League hero Drogba.
But when you consider that the Drog has netted just
four goals in 20 Premier League games (seven starts), perhaps it's not beyond
the realms of possibility, particularly if Financial Fair Play is taken into
account.
Then again, Patrick Bamford might feel a little hard done
by!
Here's how Chelsea fans have been
reacting to the rumour.
