A beaming royal couple introduced their sleeping newborn daughter
Saturday as the world enjoyed its first look at the petite princess born
just hours earlier.
Second-time mom Kate Middleton cradled the couple’s first daughter in her right arm as husband Prince William wrapped his wife in a hug outside St. Mary’s Hospital in London.
“We’re very happy, very happy,” said the clearly delighted dad when he arrived at the hospital. The sentiment was shared among the many — including Prince Charles — who were hoping for a girl.
“Princess! Princess!” chanted the hundreds of well-wishers assembled outside the hospital. “Hip, hip, hooray!”
The as-yet-unnamed princess, weighing in at 8 pounds, 3 ounces, now sits fourth in line to the throne behind her grandfather Prince Charles, her father and her big brother George.
Middleton, 33, gave birth to her daughter at 8:34 a.m., with the prince in attendance.
