Lagos Election Tribunal begins Sitting Today

The Lagos State Election Petitions Tribunal will today commence sitting on petitions submitted to it by aggrieved candidates, who contested in the March 28 and April 11 elections.

-Secretary to the tribunal, Hafsatu Suleiman, disclosed last week that the tribunal had received 17 petitions against the March 28 National Assembly and April 11 House of Assembly elections in the state.
 
Those that filed petitions before the tribunal included the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Lagos West Senatorial District, Mr. Segun Adewale and his counterpart for Lagos East Senatorial District, Mr. Olabisi Salis-Fakos.

The other 15 petitions were said to have been filed by House of Assembly candidates who felt aggrieved with results announced for the April 11 elections.

Lagos State Chief judge, Justice Oluwafunmilayo Atilade, had created the space for the State Election Tribunal in the newly inaugurated  Roseline Omotosho Court in Ikeja.
