The Red Devils and Chelsea have been linked with the 22-year-old
Frenchman for some time, but according to AS, United have contacted the Spanish
giants to find out if the player might leave the Santiago Bernabeu.
Varane's future has been the subject of much debate after he
struggled to secure a regular first-team berth towards the end of last season,
sparking rumours over his next destination.
Louis van Gaal is keen to bolster his defence with a top
quality centre-back this summer and believes the £20m valued star fits the
bill.
It has been suggested that Real are ready to listen to
offers for the former Lens man, despite him still having five years
left to run on the contract he signed back in 2011.
Varane's form was indifferent throughout Madrid's trophyless
campaign last season however he still registered 46 appearances in all
competitions.
