PDP Engages IRI to X- ray Ekweremadu C’ttee’s report –

Ike

ABUJA – FORMER Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and chairman of the North-East and North-west team of the Senator. Ike Ekweremadu led post Election Review Committee, Alhaji Suiabu Oyedokun disclosed weekend that as part of moves to have a formidable party, the leadership of PDP has engaged the services of experts from the International Republican Institute,IRI to after the assignment, subject the findings and recommendations of the committee to clinical analysis.
According to Oyedokun, it became imperative for PDP to engage these experts to ensure neutrality of individual members of the committee and the leadership of the party, just as he said that all aggrieved members of the party were regrouping to come back under one umbrella and rebuild the party.

Oyedokun who disclosed this after a meeting with representatives of the party from the North-west Zone, assured all members of the party that the committee would not be partisan but would come out with viable recommendations that would make the party regained its lost glory by waxing stronger and return to power come 2019.
He said that the PDP was desirous to regain its lost glory against the backdrop that stakeholders, leaders, elders and members of the party have carried out a postmortem on last presidential and general elections and have realised mistakes, adding that the leadership after the poor performance of the party in the last general elections had to put in place the post election review committee to examine the factors which were responsible for its woeful performance after being in power for the last sixteen years and having done so much in transforming the country to an enviable position in the committee of nations.
Senator Ike Ekweremadu led post Election Review Committee of the Party was set up by the National Working Committee, NWC to look at among others, factors that were responsible for the party’s poor performance in the last general.
According to Oyedokun, “this is an innovation in our party and in the country in general, that is why most of us who are also founding fathers of the party decided to partake in the assignment despite the factthat we are in the fasting period because we don’t normally fix political activities for this period because it is a rigorous exercise,we have to sacrifice a lot in the interest of the party and our great nation.

“The Committee then decided to send various teams to the six geo political zones to receive representations fomr the members and here we are our committee was posted to the North East and the North West, We thank God that in course of our moving round we have been able to discover among other things that anger, misunderstanding and internal ranging among others which I will not mention here responsible for our failure as a party at the polls”.

“It is interesting to note that we have been able to receive representations from various groups and individuals, the representations were not only thoroughly debated but they were all adopted, we have been able to appeal to all aggrieved individuals and groups and the responses are very favourably, they are all interested in returning to under one umbrella once again ahead of 2019 general elections.”

Speaking in the same vein, former Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro who is also a member of the committee and Senator Ibrahim Kazaure, the North- west zonal Vice Chairman of the party expressed optimism that with the current efforts being made by the leadership of the party, PDP would sooner than later regain its lost glory.
Comrade Abba Moro appealed to all party members to put all that happened during the last general elections behind them and forge ahead in the over all insterest of the party having learnt its lesson in a hard way.

On his own Senator Kazaure declared that the party was still on ground in all the nooks and crannies of the country and that concerted efforts should be made to reunite ahead of 2019 general elections.
