The
 2015 Award Committee will today announce the winners of the coveted 
BusinessDay Annual Banking Awards. The yearly event will hold today at 
the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. 
The 
BusinessDay’s Annual Banking Awards Programme which has become the 
banking industry’s benchmark for outstanding performance was introduced 
to celebrate Nigerian banks and their officials who diligently managed 
their resources to attain a healthy balance between risks, safety and 
profitability. 
The 
introduction of the yearly event has engendered healthy competition 
among Nigerian banks as majority of them are now highly rated among 
African banks. Today, winners will emerge in 16 different award 
categories. 
The award 
categories are Bank of the Year; Bank CEO of the Year; CSR, Best Bank in
 Support of Agriculture; Best Bank in support of Manufacturing; Best 
Bank in Retail Banking; Best Bank in Corporate Banking; and the Most 
Customer Friendly Bank. Others are Best Bank in Private Banking; Best 
Bank in support of SMEs; Best Bank in IT; Mortgage and Microfinance 
banks of the year. 
Special 
recognition will be given to a foremost and an astute banker, while the 
promotion of Islamic banking practices in the country will also be 
recognised. 
Zenith Bank,
 FCMB and Access Bank are the nominees for the Bank of the Year Award. 
The group managing directors and executive officers of Access Bank, FCMB
 and Zenith will vie for the Bank CEO Award, just as Special Recognition
 award christened as BusinessDay Person of the Year, will go to the 
Chairman of Skye Bank Plc, Olatunde Ayeni. 
The nominees
 for the Corporate Social Responsibility Award are Access Bank, Diamond 
Bank and Fidelity Bank while the nominees for the Best Bank in support 
of Agriculture, Manufacturing, and Retail banking are Zenith Bank, UBA, 
First Bank, GT Bank and Sterling Bank. For the Best Bank in Corporate 
Banking and the Most Customer Friendly Bank, the nominees are Stanbic 
IBTC, Zenith, UBA, FCMB, Sterling and Fidelity Bank. 
The banks that will vie for the Best Bank in Private Banking Award and the  Best
 Bank in support of SMEs are Ecobank(ETI), Skye, FCMB, Union Bank and 
Diamond Bank. In addition, Sterling Bank, Diamond and UBA will compete 
for the Best Bank in Information Technology(IT) just as LAPO 
Microfinance Bank, FBN Microfinance Bank and NPF Microfinance Bank will 
compete for the Microfinance Institution of the Year Award.
Heritage Bank and Skye Bank will compete for the Bank Deal of the Year Award.
