Nigeria - The Federal Government inaugurated rural
electrification projects built at over N100 million in Wamba Local
Government Area of Nasarawa State to boost the socio-economic activities
of the people, Musa Adejo, Deputy Director of Design at the Lower Benue
River Basin Development Authority, announced on Wednesday.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony of
the project in the local government area, he said that the Federal
Government decided to award the contract to provide electricity to the
rural populace and boost their socio-economic activities.

“The Federal Government awarded this
contract in March 2015 for the electrification project starting from
Wamba town to Wayo village and we have made the necessary design and
survey in order to ensure the success of the project.
“Today, we are handing over the project
to Andex and Allied Services Ltd and as we are all aware, the importance
of electricity cannot be over-emphasised to the socio-development of
the country.“
He called on the contractor to deliver
quality work, to ensure
its durability, adding that the Federal Government would not tolerate poor quality work in the interest of national development.

The Deputy Director also called on the
contractor to avoid sharp practices that would tarnish his image and the
image of the company for the overall development of the country.
The Chairman of Wamba Local Government, Alhaji Musa Shuaibu-Wayo, commended the government for the project.
“Iam so happy, overwhelmed today because
this is something that I have been pursuing for a very long time but it
has come to true or reality and I want to assure of my administration’s
readiness to give full support in ensuring the success of the work,” he
said.
He called on the three tiers of
government to synergise to provide the much-needed dividend of democracy
to the people at the grassroots.
He added that for the people at the grassroots to enjoy dividend of democracy, government at all levels must work together.
Responding, the contractor handling the
work and the Chief Executive Officer of Andex and Allied Services Ltd,
Mr Ujain Dokotriy, promised to deliver quality work.
He appealed for support from the council and the people of the area to enable him to succeed.
“As you can see, we have started erecting poles and by the grace of God, we will deliver good and quality work, “ he said.
