Med-View Airline, designated by the Federal Government as flag
carrier to Saudi Arabia, has started scheduled operations with four
flights a week to Jeddah as approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of
that country known as General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA)
Obuke Oyibotha, spokesman for the airline, said the four direct
flights were routed through Lagos-Abuja-Jeddah and Lagos-Kano-Jeddah.
The schedule released by the airline coincided with the 2015 Hajj
airlift to accommodate international passengers who are not going on the
platform of the various states’ Pilgrims Welfare, and other passengers
not on pilgrimage.
The flights, which started September 6, 2015, will run through the summer period.
The GACA has also approved the winter schedule for the four direct flights a week
Muneer Bankole, Med-View Airline managing director, said the airline
was committed to service the routes granted it by the Federal
Government, which include London, Dubai, Dakar, Accra, Monrovia,
Libreville, Doula, etc.
The airline has continued to maintain its over 10 years track record
of hitch-free operations in the airlift of pilgrims, he said, saying “in
the 2015 Hajj, we operated with much more modern equipment that have
business class seats for officials of pilgrims boards from the various
states that were allocated to us by NAHCON.”
Med-View airlifted pilgrims from South-West, South-South, South-East states and Borno State.
Meanwhile, the airline said it was oiling its wheels for Lagos-London
route, adding that details about the operations would be released soon.
