Mohammed Kankara, Area Comptroller
of the Nigeria Custom Services for Sokoto , Kebbi and Zamfara states
said on Monday that about N90 million was collected as revenue in the
first 20 days of September, 2015.
Kankara said in Sokoto that effective
operational order on how to ensure the arrest and prosecution of
smugglers had been issued to the officers deployed to manage the border
posts .
He said that all identified routes for
smugglers have been blocked and solicited for the support of the border
communities in curtaling smuggling activities in the area.
He explained that vital information about movement of smugglers would enable officers to block and arrest smugglers.
He said that the Sokoto Area Command remained committed to the fight against any form of smuggling.
” My areas of supervision are no go
areas for any form of economic sabotage as competent and dedicated
officers have been stationed to discharge their primary assignments
diligently ” he said.
He called on the border communities,
especially those along Illela ,Isa ,Gwababawa ,Sabon Birni Tangaza and
Gudu local government areas in Sokoto state to cooperate with his men to
rid the nation of smugglers.
He said that effective communication
gadgets and vehicles were provided to the officers deployed to all
border posts in the area to enable them dischrge their responsibilities.
