Singer Shakira traded her famous hips for a global cause Tuesday, urging world leaders to invest in childhood development.

The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer and goodwill ambassador was at the United Nations pushing diplomats to get behind initiatives aimed at reducing childhood poverty and stress.

“More than 100 million children are out of school, and 159 million boys and girls under 5 are physically and cognitively stunted due to a lack of care and proper nutrition,” she said.

Shakira was joined by Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake.
