The former Arsenal and France midfielder
has been strongly linked with taking over in America at Manchester City's
sister club.
Vieira is currently head of City's Elite Development Squad
and has shown an ambition to manage at the highest level.
New York boss Jason Kreis is under pressure after losing 16
of his 33 MLS matches.
And Vieira has the full support of his most influential
manager, Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger.
His fellow French countryman said: "He has the
qualities to be a manager. I have spoken to him about it a few times.
"At 39 he is old enough to start, but he has to decide
whether he wants to coach at the youth levels or come up to join us in
hell!"
